Come for a wander deep within the lost woods. My art-blog is where I'll regularly update about the interesting or quirky things I might get up to on my artistic adventures : )

Etsy Art Shop!!

Wed Jun 18, 2008, 4:07 PM
I have set up an acount on etsy!
I've been studiously neglecting all other aspects of my life in favour of scanning and uploading my original creations to hawk away!

At the moment it's mainly my 'craft' work: dolls, accessories, jewellery, ceramics, etc.

But soon I hope to begin selling my ORIGINAL prints (what does this mean?)
Original Etchings, Lithographs, WoodCuts (not digital prints, but my actual original printmaking prints, hand printed by moi!)
Including versions of the Cacti Fay I have featured on my main dev-art page!

So please take a look, and I promise to update the moment the etchings are up for grabs : )

What does one do when they finish Art School? Having been molly-coddled in however many years of safe, sanitary art education, recieving a lovely University degree and a slip of paper to state they are perfectly capable of becoming an artist... what then?

This is the dilehemma I now find myself in

Craft VS Art Debate

Sun Oct 14, 2007, 3:55 AM
In my final year of my BFA I am writing an Essay On the Cross Over in Contemporary Visual Art and Craft practices.

I am interested in finding out what artists who use craft in their art think of this, or how they think of themselves (as fine artists, or as crafters?) And what they think these techniques bring to their Visual Arts practices..

There is a long history within the Fine Arts of looking down on both "Craft" practices and "Womens Work", yet I am finding an increasing number of contemporary "Fine Artists" are incorporating craft techniques in their work.

Very very interested in what people have to say....

Thanks all!

I'm very proud and honoured to have had my Cacti Fae featured as a Daily Deviation on July 31st, 2007

Thankyou to all the people who commented and added it as a favourite, I just about had a stroke when I saw the number of comments I'd received!!
